Rare Diseases: Recognizing the Patient Journey
Health & Patients
Rare diseases may sound uncommon, but together they affect a massive global community. Over 300 million people worldwide—including 1 in 10 Americans—are living with a rare disease.1 Their patient journeys are often long and challenging, with diagnosis taking anywhere from five to seven years.2 This process is frequently marked by uncertainty, misdiagnosis, and a lack of effective treatment options.
Keenova’s Commitment to the Rare Disease Community
At Keenova, our work extends across a range of rare and complex conditions, each with its own clinical challenges and patient stories. Our team proudly joins advocates worldwide to raise awareness for the millions living with rare diseases.
This effort is more than a gesture—it’s a commitment to support the rare disease community through resources and research.
Rare Disease Day
Each year on February 28, Rare Disease Day spotlights the challenges faced by those with rare diseases. It is an opportunity for all of us—patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocates—to unite in solidarity. In the United States, the National Organization for Rare Disorders leads the charge, while EURORDIS – Rare Diseases Europe drives international advocacy.
Standing Together for Change
On Rare Disease Day and every day, Keenova and our advocacy partners aim to amplify the voices of the rare disease community and support ongoing initiatives to drive progress toward better care, faster diagnoses, and more treatment options. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions.
